Non-Stop is the latest action film that Liam Neeson has added to his growing repertoire. The film, which costars Julianne Moore as a fellow passenger on this terrorized flight, is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra who previously directed Neeson in Unknown.
I’ll admit that I’ve avoided Liam Neeson’s previous action movies like Taken, Taken 2 and The Grey because I had very low expectations for them.
I didn’t expect much from Non-Stop going into it either, but I am happy to report that I came away from this movie very entertained. Liam Neeson plays Bill Marks, an alcoholic air marshal who has to save the flight that he’s on from a terrorist while being accused himself of hijacking the plane.
Non-Stop is a fun ride and more than the mindless B Movie I thought it would be. The film keeps you guessing with twists and turns and has you questioning every character you meet. It builds great dramatic tension all the way up to the climax.
The only weak point for me was that after this great dramatic build up, the climax felt a little awkward and anticlimactic. During the big reveal, I found character motives to be weak and somewhat confusing.
That aside however, Non-Stop is a fun thrill ride. It’s not a perfect movie by any means and has some very stereotypical characters like the “angry New York cop” and the “suspicious looking Muslim”. But if you’re in the mood for action, suspense and another solid performance by the great Liam Neeson, then Non-Stop definitely worth watching.(3.5 / 5)
